The Story of C-BUS Magazine: Connecting Columbus

Starting a magazine from scratch is like being a first-time parent. You will stay up all hours of the night when you would rather be sleeping. Your bank account will diminish. You will remember what life used to be like, way back when you had time to go see a movie. And as stressful and tiring as the process can get, nothing can take away from the thrill of seeing new life take shape and grow. That’s how we feel now, seeing the magazine take its first steps in what we hope is a long, meaningful life.

We named it C-BUS Magazine, a faster way of saying Columbus. Or, as David Letterman would say, “It’s what the kids are calling it these days.” All four of them. You would be amazed at how many people have no idea what we mean when we say C-BUS. Is it about public transportation? Is it about the ocean? These are real questions we have answered.

When we say C-BUS Magazine, we mean one thing: Connecting Columbus. Like the name C-BUS itself, we want to connect Columbus-area young professionals and adults who find themselves on the verge of greatness. Our philosophy is simple: the more we talk to each other, let down our guard and be real, the more enjoyable life becomes.

This city -- this region -- is a great place to live. And it isn’t the weather. It definitely is not the weather. It’s the people, the same people we pass in public each day. C-BUS Magazine is all about people. And with all respect to Jim Tressel and other local celebrities, we think it’s time to showcase somebody new and unknown -- somebody we can all relate to because they’re dealing with the same successes and problems that we face everyday.

Judging by the overwhelmingly positive response we have received since beginning our business in 2005, and by the incredible level of advertiser support for this premiere issue, we think we are on the right track.

C-BUS Magazine; Connecting Columbus. It’s more than a catchphrase. We believe in bringing people together, and we hope our quarterly production schedule in 2006 whets your appetite for more in 2007. We hope you will support the advertisers who trusted us enough to risk their own money to pay for this brand new publication. They are not only supporting us, they are supporting a higher quality of life for all of central Ohio. And most importantly, we want to thank you for your support.
